ABOUT SCOTT

IMG_2027.jpeg

Scott Slaugh is proud to be a fifth generation Coloradan and fourth generation Veteran. Loyal to a fault, the four pillars of his life are Faith, Family, Friends, and Freedom. Scott was adopted as an infant into a Northern Colorado home where he learned from his school bus driver mother and Army Veteran and farrier father the values of hard work, sacrifice, and service. Aside from college, missionary service, and 22 years (and counting) of U.S. Army Reserve Officer service, Scott has always lived in Northern Colorado and wants to see his four sixth-generation Coloradan children grow up there as well with the same freedoms and values that made him and his life what they are today. When he is not serving in his Army capacity, he is a licensed residential general contractor who owns and founded Fall River Homes, LLC, in 2016 to help build and improve the most important thing all families need – a place to call home.

ISSUES

PERSONAL LIBERTY

All people are equal and have inherent rights by nature of their life. This life and these rights begin before birth and extend beyond death. Governments are instituted for the benefit of their citizens, and should never restrict the personal liberty of a citizen unless to protect the life or liberty of another citizen.

HOUSING & DEVELOPMENT

Housing should be reasonably attainable through commensurate effort and not overpriced because of over-regulation. Community development and public improvements should further families’ and individuals’ abilities to enjoy their homes without adding additional financial burdens.

ENVIRONMENT

With a Masters degree in Environmental Management, and a deep-rooted, widely traveled, Colorado-born love of nature and this magnificent Earth we live upon, I am passionate about wise and factual Environmental Conservation. Spending effort, money, and regulation on effective, common sense, and science-backed environmental protections ensures our beautiful state remains at the peak of natural beauty it is known for worldwide.

TAXES

Though government requires money to operate and accomplish its purposes of protecting and enabling its citizens, it should never be more of a burden than it is a benefit to its citizens. Governments should strive for maximum efficiency, balancing short-term expenses and long-term investments and reducing its demand upon its taxpayers.

VETERANS

There are few things more noble than service to others that willingly accepts the potential of complete self-sacrifice for the protection of others’ liberties. Servicemembers and Veterans are our American Nobility. Though they don’t ask for parades and riches, their service should be honored and they should be cared for when their sacrifice causes them to struggle to enjoy the liberties they too deserve as citizens.

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

The Constitution of The United States guarantees the freedom of its citizens to own personal firearms for their own protection from those who would or may do them harm, be that threat an individual, an organization, or a government. Though evil people may use them for evil purposes, guns ensure and enable the protection of life and liberty.

EDUCATION

Social progress is built on a foundation of learning. Education is critical for children, youth, and adults alike. I strongly support competition in education; school of choice and charter schools are keys to keeping our wonderful public schools and districts striving to do better and be better. Families should be able to make choices and be supported in making education choices.
